Using WRF

Caveat: WRF and WPS were built by a non-expert. Direct any questions to brazos-help \\AT// listserv.tamu.edu

We have installed the Weather Research & Forecasting (WRF-ARW) Model (ACML) version 3.6.1. The WPS-3.6.1 is also included. The WRF and WPS executables can be accessed by the modules command.

Environment variable Description
BRAZOS_WRFHOME The root directory of the installation.

Example
Here's a simple example of running WRF assuming your input and output files reside in your directory under /fdata/scratch/$USER, the following SLURM script, named "wrf.slrm," can be used to run WRF on 4 nodes with 8 cores per node:

#!/bin/bash
#SBATCH -p mpi-core8
#SBATCH -t 08:00:00
#SBATCH -N 4
#SBATCH --ntasks-per-node=8
#SBATCH --mem-per-cpu=3800

# Load modules.
# The netcdff FORTRAN library will be loaded at runtime by the
# wrf.exe executable
module load gcc
module load mvapich2
module load hdf5
module load netcdf
module load wrf

cd /fdata/scratch/$USER

srun --mpi=none wrf.exe
exit 0
Submit with sbatch wrf.slrm
